About

Below is a little info about me, John Wesley Smith, DestinySurvival.com, and the philosophy behind the site.

This site is about each of us and how you and I can prepare for survival in a rapidly changing world. How will we live when life as we’ve known it has changed forever?

…The Author

John Wesley Smith is a former radio broadcaster who taught his children at home. They’ve both graduated from Bible college and are pursuing the adventures life has in store for them. John is an avid reader, writer and gardener. He and his wife live in central Missouri, where they struggle to get by like so many others these days.

…The Site

DestinySurvival.com is an Internet marketing blog on preparedness and survival. I started the site in November 2007, just before the U.S. government later decided the country had officially gone into recession.

It seemed like the right time to begin nudging interested readers toward survival oriented lifestyles in preparation for economic and political change, and, of course, natural disasters.

While posts here often promote specific products offered by various affiliate sponsors and paid advertisers, many are simply informational. I try to “mix it up” with a variety of survival-related topics—food storage, gardening, personal defense, and more.

Find affiliate sponsors grouped in categories in the Prep Mart. Several other offerings are shown on the sidebar and at the bottom of the page. Also, check out the Amazon Picks pages. There are also pages offering free downloads as well as links to additional sites with helpful products and services.

…The Philosophy

You won’t find much about politics or current events on this blog, though they certainly affect what appears here. You can get news and perspectives from other sources, and I encourage you to do that.

What you find here is based on my belief that truth is wherever we find it, and those truths should be shared with others who will receive them. Many things in life are connected. One thing leads to another. The challenge is to have the courage to take the new paths that may open up before us as a result of what we discover when we have a teachable, eclectic mindset.

Someone has said life is an adventure, and we shouldn’t be afraid to experiment. One day we may get more adventure than we bargained for. Therefore, survival in an increasingly chaotic world requires us to take new paths and be adaptable.

My understanding of the Scriptures helps me know how to put the world in proper perspective. My relationship with Jesus Christ as my Savior helps me get by from day to day and gives me hope and assurance for the future in a different world. If you want to know more, click here.

DestinySurvival Radio

In January 2011 DestinySurvival branched out with a Blog Talk Radio program called DestinySurvival Radio. It’s live Thursday afternoons at 1:00 Central Time on the Preparedness Radio Network, founded by James Talmage Stevens, best selling preparedness author of Making the Best of Basics.

DestinySurvival Radio takes its name from this blog site where you find “Survival Gear & Supplies for Emergency Preparedness & Hard Times.” DestinySurvival Radio explores a variety of preparedness and survival topics. That’s because there’s more to survival and preparedness than having the right gear and supplies. It’s an attitude and a lifestyle.
