Ebola: Is it a Pandemic in the Making?

If you read my posts with any regularity, you know that as a rule I’m not Johnny on the spot to get out in front of current events. That’s because I believe they provide the backdrop for prepping. But the recent flurry of news concerning Ebola raises several questions and calls for credible answers.

Is Ebola a pandemic in the making? Will it break out widely in the U.S. and other developed countries? Could it be the crisis that brings about martial law? Is it deliberately being let loose as a means of depopulation? After all, there is no vaccine for it.

Or will it play out like the swine flu crisis a few years ago? Will it grab attention and fizzle like a shooting star?

Honestly, I don’t have answers to those questions. And I’m not going to speculate, though it is tempting. Your thoughts are, of course, welcome, should you care to leave a comment below.

Meanwhile, let me direct your attention to useful information from Dr. Joe Alton, M.D., and Amy Alton, A.R.N.P., a.k.a. Dr. Bones and Nurse Amy of DoomAndBloom.net. As it happens, their new board game is designed around survival in the aftermath of a pandemic. But their Survival Medicine Hour podcast this past weekend was specifically devoted to a discussion of Ebola. Find it here. There’s also a short video which covers some of the same information, and you can view it below.

As with anything related to preparedness and survival, face fear with knowledge. Than act accordingly. Think the unthinkable. And think survival.
