The safety of your family is probably the most important thing to you, and no matter how old those little ones get, it’s always going to be a priority. To ease the stress and worry of keeping your family safe, we have put together a small list of items to include in your house first aid kit. This kit has everything you need for the smallest injury to preventing a bigger one from getting worse.
First of all, you will need to include any medications, phone numbers, or any other items that are specific to your family situation. Obviously, if you or your kids have allergies, you will probably include an EpiPen and the number of your local doctor or anyone else you may need to contact.
In addition to your personal items, you will also want to include the following:
- Compress dressings
- Adhesive cloth tape
- A packet of plastic bandages
- Antiseptic wipes
- Aspirin or paracetamol
- Anti-inflammatories like hay fever medication
- A blanket
- Cold compress
- Hot pack
- Gauze pads
- And a first aid instruction book
Also make sure that you have multiple sizes and shapes of bandages and gauze to treat the injury correctly. The most important thing when treating a wound is to quickly apply antiseptic before applying the bandage. For more serious injuries, call emergency services and consult your first aid booklet in the meantime for the best way to treat the injury.
In addition to being prepared with your own first aid kit, you may also want to consider taking first aid lessons to improve your skills. There is probably a lot about first aid that you don’t even know! You can prevent serious injuries by attending First Aid Management and Training Centre for some vital tips on CPR, along with other lifesaving skills.
