Time for an Exciting Announcement and More About Those Sudden Things
August 3rd, 2012 by John Wesley Smith
There was no new DestinySurvival Radio show yesterday. More about that below. Find past shows
here. This won’t be my usual Friday post, and I ask your indulgence if it’s a tad long. I want to share an exciting announcement and a little personal news.
The Announcement
You now have the opportunity to receive e-mails containing an excerpt of DestinySurvival blog posts. You’re invited to subscribe to what I call “DestinySurvival Today.” You’ll receive an e-mail automatically each time a new post is published. When you subscribe, you’ll get an e-mail on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Those are the days I post to this site. E-mails arrive within an hour or two after a post shows up here. If you subscribe today, Friday, the first post you get will be Saturday’s post. Each e-mail will contain the first few lines of the post and a link to the entire post. To read the entire post for a given day, click on the post’s title in the e-mail. “DestinySurvival Today” e-mails are completely separate and independent from “DestinySurvival Dispatch” messages. You do receive the “DestinySurvival Dispatch” don’t you? You’re under no obligation to subscribe to “DestinySurvival Today.” I’m simply giving you the opportunity to keep up with what’s going on directly at the site. To start receiving post content from DestinySurvival, go
here. Then fill in your first name and e-mail address on the subscription form. Click Subscribe to get things rolling. You’ll also find a link on this page’s sidebar. It’s right below the subscription form for the “DestinySurvival Dispatch.” By the way, there’s no time limit on when you can subscribe to “DestinySurvival Today.”
More About Those Sudden Things
If you’re a regular reader, you might recall I wrote a few weeks back about those sudden things that catch us off guard. If you missed that post, find it
here. It’s not always the things we’ve been preparing for that trip us up. That’s why an adaptable frame of mind is so important. A case in point. My routine has been greatly disrupted by recent events here. I wasn’t able to do a new DestinySurvival Radio show this week. I hope I can be back on track with a new one next Thursday. Last Friday evening my wife and I found my good friend Gerald semi-comatose in his bed at his home. We had him rushed to the hospital. To make a long story short, he had a heart attack, small stroke and was seriously dehydrated. He was very near death’s door. Thankfully, he’s recovering remarkably well, but has a long way to go. Gerald has been like a second father to me and has had a notable behind-the-scenes influence on what I do here at DestinySurvival. His relatives live a few hundred miles away, and my family is like family to him. Things have been quite hectic for us the past several days with numerous visits to the hospital and tending to his affairs. If you’re someone who believes in the effectiveness of prayer, please pray for Gerald and my family. He needs healing, and we need wisdom and strength. As it happens, my DestinySurvival Radio guest yesterday was originally going to be Riverwalker. We were going to talk about his recent heart attack and how it has impacted his prepping. He’ll be on in a few weeks, and we’ll no doubt have plenty to talk about in light of what’s been going on here. Thank you so much for your support of DestinySurvival. Have a great day, and keep prepping.
