The Mad Herbalist Answers More Survival Health Questions

Kal Sellers, the Mad Herbalist, returned as my guest on DestinySurvival Radio to answer more questions. This was his second visit.

The show took a different direction than I anticipated. It’s all good, and I believe you’ll find our discussion helpful.

Kal discussed natural healing and what it encompasses. It’s more than popping herb pills. The goal is to get the body to function better and heal itself as much as possible. One’s emotional state also plays an important role in healing.

Where do nutritional supplements fit in? Kal gave his views on that during our chat.

And how do you find the best herbal products? He passed along a couple of general rules for that near the end of the show.

In the second half of the show I brought up a subject that probably demonstrates my ability to go where angels fear to tread. Kal and I talked in general terms about how someone might get off of antidepressants. A growing number of the population takes them. However, getting off of them is not something anyone should do without appropriate medical care and guidance.

As preppers we like to stock up on necessities, including medications whenever possible. It’s not easy to do that with prescribed medications. You have to implement a plan.. But no matter how much a person on antidepressants might be able to put by ahead of time, in a collapse situation the medication will run out one day.

Then what? It won’t be pretty.

Anyone taking antidepressants may want to think about weaning off of them as part of a prepping strategy. It may seem difficult and even scary. My discussion with Kal was to explore options and possibilities, not to give medical advice.

I invite you to hear what we talked about by listening to DestinySurvival Radio for December 1, 2011.
