Tent, Cot, or Tent Cot?

This week’s DestinySurvival Pick is the Kamp-Rite Compact Collapsable Tent Cot. It combines a cot with a tent so you can sleep off the ground.

You can also use the tent or cot alone. If you remove the upper part from the cot base, you have a one person tent. Or use the cot by itself as a standard sleeping cot.

This is something you’ll want among your survival and camping supplies. Reviewers say this tent cot is heavy for backpacking, but it would be suitable for car camping. Or take it on a boating trip to give yourself protection from the elements. If you had to leave home in a hurry, having one thing to pack instead of two would be a real plus.

The Kamp-Rite Compact Collapsable Tent Cot comes standard with fully taped seams and rain fly to keep you dry. The tent is made of 210 denier polyurethane coated nylon with no seeum mesh windows and entries and fiberglass flex rods. The cot is made of high strength steel with a durable 600 denier nylon sleeping surface.

It comes with a carry bag and folds down to 39” x 7” x 7″ and weighs 15 pounds. When assembled, the bed size is 80’ x 28″. Total height is 42”. And it supports up to 300 pounds. The triangular windows give good ventilation and can be closed while you’re inside the tent. It also has internal pockets for storing small items.

It’s easy to set up within five minutes. One reviewer says it’s fairly intuitive to put it together.
