Shelf Reliance (Now THRIVE Life) Encourages Self Reliance

Thursday’s guest on DestinySurvival Radio was Mike Porritt, Online Marketing Director for, now THRIVE Life. (Update: Mike is no longer in that position.) They’ve got food rotation systems.

Mike said the company encourages self reliance with the products they offer. Not only do they have Cansolidators and stand alone units for organizing and storing food, they have their own long term storage food called THRIVE. Plus, they carry other emergency kits and supplies.

THRIVE Life offers food rotation systems that hold as little as 20 cans or as many as 300 or more. What struck me is that, if you’re serious about having a survival pantry, you don’t have to build one. The stand alone units offered are sturdy, hold large amounts of food, and they’ll serve your purpose very well.

There’s a food rotation system to suit your needs. If you’re not sure, check out the FRS Planner on the company’s Web site.

You can fill up your food storage system with canned food from the supermarket, or you can buy THRIVE food storage. The Thrive storage food comes in color coded cans, which is another clever idea for keeping your food storage organized. Thrive includes grains, vegetables, fruit, dairy, meat and beans, entrees, desserts and basics, like baking ingredients and drink mixes.

Mike emphasized the importance of having storage that tastes good. You don’t want to buy something for long term storage that you won’t eat unless you absolutely have to. One of his favorites is the freeze dried pineapple, which he says is as good as candy to snack on.

But here’s something I think is really terrific. Because the cost of buying long term storage food can be more than some of us can handle, the company offers a solution with a program they call the THRIVE Q.

If you can budget a certain amount of dollars each month for purchasing storage food, the company will ship your budgeted amount of THRIVE each month. Make a list of what you want, and they’ll work with you. If you have to stop for a while, they understand that, too. Then you go back on the program when you’re able.

There’s a THRIVE Planner and Food Calculator on their site to help you figure out how you want to set up your Thrive Q. This gives you control over your food storage.

Also, on the site, you’ll find several articles and videos on the basics of food storage, food rotation, even outdoor survival tips, and more.

For those interested in a business opportunity, become a consultant and have home parties. What a great way to introduce family and friends to prepping for survival!

At the end of my show that day, I spoke for a few minutes with James Talmage Stevens (Doctor Prepper). He said he’s been to the Shelf Reliance (now THRIVE Life) headquarters, and they’re doing a brisk business. People obviously want what they have.

If you want to hear the DestinySurvival Radio program I’ve described above, contact me directly, and we’ll make arrangements to provide you with the audio file. The original link for the show no longer works.
