Guidance on Prepping for Economic Uncertainty and Collapse

My guest on this week’s DestinySurvival Radio program was Troy J. Grice. He’s the author of the novel Indivisible.

The conversation centered around the state of the economy at the time of this writing and the possibility of a more severe economic collapse than what we’ve seen to date.

We touched on several hot button issues because Indivisible touches on them. Troy admits freely that his book is a “What if” scenario. It’s not predictive, but contains situations that are plausible.

The real issue is that we as preppers need to be aware of what’s going on, even if we don’t understand everything. Troy talked about some signs that stimulated his thinking when he wrote this book.

For example, what do emergency meetings of the Federal Reserve signal? Could China’s manipulation of their currency cost us more for goods at Wal-Mart? What does the Baltic Dry Index indicate? Is our government printing money? Will that lead to hyper-inflation?

I know people who are stocking up on food and hard goods because they’re concerned about the consequences of the government printing money. The kicker is that the government technically isn’t printing money. At least if they are, it’s not finding its way to where you and I live.

And, yes, prices are going up. But we may not see inflation across the board for everything we buy.

Money is mostly created electronically, and much of it finds its way back into the banking system in a shell game best explained by those with a head for such things. These concerned preppers aren’t wrong because someday this may all come apart.

Could we one day see a break up of the U.S. as some have predicted? Would you want to bet against it? On the other hand, is Troy correct in saying the government will do anything to keep the Union together—even if it means trouble for many of us?

We live in a time where things don’t add up. It’s different than anything we’ve experienced before here in America. That’s all the more reason to be ready to face turmoil and uncertainty.

As Troy mentioned at the end of the show, it’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. That’s cliché, yes, but so true.
