Is the Oil Volcano “The Big One?”
It’s not merely an oil spill. It’s beyond a spew. It’s virtually an oil volcano. Reports vary on the amount of oil coming out and how many places it’s coming from. That depends on which P.R. person you hear, as one commentator quipped. I won’t even try to get into the specifics because they keep changing, and usually the numbers keep getting higher.
Some have alleged BP planned this, or that it’s a false flag operation, possibly to divert attention from the stumbling economy. I don’t see how that could be the case, since it only makes the economic situation worse, and everybody will notice that.
On the other hand, if this is the result of a sinister plan for depopulation, to destroy America, or whatever, what if it’s out of control?
I think the spew is the result of a colossal system failure. I can’t recall the name for the theory, but several years ago someone wrote a book about this, which explains how things get so complicated, there will inevitably be breakdowns. A number of factors are at work, not just one thing or another.
Thus, those who point to greed or negligence on the part of BP are right, but that doesn’t explain everything. Those who accuse the government of slowness, incompetence, or whatever, are right, too. These and other factors all play into this.
Mankind has overstepped his reach, and we’re seeing the consequences. This oil volcano disaster is unparalleled in history and is of Biblical proportion.
And it’s not going away any time soon. I saw a headline the other day suggesting oil could gush for 30 years if it’s not stopped. BP was drilling for oil thousands of feet below the ocean floor, and the pressure is so tremendous that it may be impossible to stop it.
One scenario I saw suggested the ocean floor could collapse, causing a tsunami that would wipe out Florida. Too drastic? Would you like to bet against that possibility? Could an attempt to stop the oil with a nuclear bomb virtually guarantee it will happen? Does anybody really know for sure?
Then, of course, there’s concern over what hurricanes will do. You’ve probably heard already that the forecast is for several big ones to hit the U.S. this year.
The pollution caused by the oil volcano won’t be cleaned up for years or even decades, even if oil were stopped immediately. Plus, there’s benzene and who knows what else in the air. How many people along the Gulf coast will be sickened and have to move?
Does all this sound like rumors, hype and excessive gloom and doom? What if we haven’t heard the half of how bad this thing really is or will be? If we don’t know the truth, it’s difficult to prepare for the consequences. So, as the old saying goes, prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
This is a genie that can’t be put back in the bottle. We may not need to wait for a nuke attack, giant solar storm or EMP to change life as we’ve known it. We may be experiencing “The Big One” right now. And it’s nowhere near over.
