The night before my granddad’s funeral, a second cousin I hadn’t seen in years told my sister that she fondly remembered the pretend tea parties they used to have with their dolls.
Oh, did you think I was going to write about that political Tea Party outfit? Sorry to disappoint you, but I’m going in a different direction here.
And what does this have to do with survival anyway?
Those pretend tea parties from the childhood of my sister and second cousin could lead to the real thing during times when you’re using your stored food supplies. Why not have plenty of tea stored away for difficult times?
Drinking tea can break the monotony of drinking water. It can also mask an “off” taste in your water, in case you don’t have the best water purification system.
There all kinds of teas—black or green teas and numerous herbal or medicinal teas to soothe a sore throat, open your sinuses, calm your stomach or put you to sleep. Or simply add some spicy or citrus flavored refreshment to your meals.
I won’t launch into a lengthy essay about teas and their various attributes. I simply want to plant in your mind the idea of having teas as part of your storage food supplies for survival. You’ll find teas offered by companies featured in the Prep Mart on the Health & Nutrition page.
So put aside some tea as part of your survival strategy. Go ahead and have a tea party if it will boost your morale. That’s the kind of tea party I support.
