With that in mind, this week’s DestinySurvival Pick is Prescription for Nutritional HealingPrescription for Nutritional Healing, 5th Edition, by Phyllis A. Balch. An earlier edition was highly recommended in Aboman’s Guide to Survival and Self Reliance. It’s a widely read guide to nutritional and alternative health which you should have in your survival library.
This book was written by a certified nutritional consultant and MD and is a large, comprehensive paperback with nearly 900 pages. It’s a reference guide to nutritional, herbal, and complementary therapies. It covers vitamins and minerals, amino acids, digestive enzymes, herbs, and more and explains their function.
The book is divided into three sections. The first covers basics about health, nutrition and supplements. The second and largest part is an alphabetical listing of all kinds of disorders and diseases and tells what can be done about them. The final part covers conventional and alternative treatments and how they can be used with nutritional support.
My guess is Prescription for Nutritional Healing isn’t a popular book at the FDA. But whatever they think of it, be cautious yourself. Remember, this is a reference book and, while it would be a tremendous asset for survival, it may not be the final word on everything covered. Have other books on health and medicine handy for the good of yourself and your family.
Sometimes you have to be your own doctor. Let this book be your guide for good nutritional and herbal supplementation. And don’t forget, you can order supplements and herbs from the companies featured in the Prep Mart on the Health & Nutrition page.
