Maybe 2012 After All?

Early predictions for Solar Cycle24 were that it would be one of the strongest and most intense ever.  Then scientists began saying it wouldn’t be such a big deal and its peak would come in 2013 or 2014.

Now they’re changing their minds again and saying it could indeed be a strong cycle.  It’s just taken a long time to get going.  But it could still be quite strong in 2012.  It looks like they’re guessing.  We’ll have to wait and see what happens.

One thing does seem certain.  NASA says there’s a breech in the earth’s magnetic field.  That means a solar flare of any magnitude could cause greater problems, meaning disruptions to communications, etc.

If all of that sounds like they’re singing the same old tune, so be it.  Don’t discount it, or you could put your survival at risk.  Don’t forget about the incredible solar flares in 1859 that caused so much havoc at the time.  The impact of a similar solar event would be greatly magnified in today’s technological world.  How prepared are you for an EMP (electromagnetic pulse)?
