Survival–Because Things Aren’t What They Seem

“You know, Sam,” said Duane, holding out his buttered toast, “I was looking at news articles on the Internet late last night, and it hit me.” We were back at the Café 23 for breakfast, and I’ve never seen Duane so agitated. “We live in a different world,” he said.

“What do you mean,” asked Survival Sam.

“Well, I mean I feel like a foreigner in my own country,” Duane said. “The presidential candidates and politicians all speak in vague platitudes about things they have no intention of doing anything about. You have CEO’s making millions and millions of dollars. Our war in Iraq has probably killed hundreds of thousands of people. I mean, who are these people? This stuff and these numbers are just on a different plane of existence from where I’m at.”

“I understand,” Sam said. “The late Ruth Stout, who is best known for her deep straw mulch method of gardening, said there were times she didn’t read the newspaper, and it didn’t phase her a bit. It made no difference. What goes on in Washington and in the circles of the Power Elites is far removed from the rest of us.”

“Watch where you’re pointing that fork,” I said to Duane.

“Have you considered that the elites are the foreigners?” asked Sam. “We’re the real inhabitants and citizens.”

“Maybe, but I’m not sure I follow you,” said Duane.

“Ever see a movie called They Live?” Sam asked. Duane nodded that he hadn’t.

“The idea is that aliens from outer space control our world, and the only way to see them and distinguish them from the rest of us is to wear specially made sunglasses. Aliens infiltrated the police and media, to name just a couple of our cherished institutions.”

“Are you saying we’re controlled by aliens from another planet?” I asked.

“No,” said Sam, “but many in positions of power and authority are not what we think they are. They don’t hold the beliefs we might wish them to have. You’ve heard me say before that things are not what they seem.”

“Well,” said Duane, his voice rising, “it’s these people who are the movers and shakers. They’re making the laws and doing things that have an impact on us all in some way or other. In fact, I now know it’s their screwy ideas that made the school want to put my son on Ritalin. I want nothing to do with such nonsense! Why can’t they leave me alone so I can live my life my way and raise my kids the way I believe they should be brought up?”

“You’re catching on, Duane,” Sam said. “It’s partly because of the plans of those in power that we need to prepare.”

“How do you figure that?” I asked.

“I think I can answer that,” said Duane. “They’ve got different ideas and beliefs than we do, and it’s anybody’s guess as to what they’ll do next.”

“Very good,” said Sam smiling. “If martial law is declared for some reason yet to be known, it won’t be you and me who bring it to pass. Remember talking a while back about Alex Jones’s DVD”s Endgame and TerrorStorm? Get a copy of each and find out who our trusted leaders are and what they’re up to. It should give you motivation to prepare and fend for yourself in an insane world where things really aren’t as they seem.”
